Like most parties in London, it started as a houseparty: the Cheshire St sessions. A few friends in a flat, then a few more in the flat next door ... then, somehow, more than 1000 people crammed into four flats on a single night of chaos that made the two promoter/DJs realise that maybe they had something special going on. They named themselves the Cheshire Catz after their Cheshire St start, but after becoming the darlings of the UK dance press - and wearing out several agents, countless dance floors around the world and each other - the duo split several years ago for the sake of musical differences as well as their sanity.

But ... "The weekend's never over with the Catz at the helm," as Mixmag says, so every year the boys get together to throw a Catzmuzik party. These days Dan is an analogue hardware geek and the respected producer of indie bands like Cable St and Miniature Cities - as well as starring in an upcoming documentary about third-eye meditation, Me and My Third Eye (MeAndMyThirdEye.com). Jon Cat's music, meanwhile, took a performance-art turn: now DJing as Popcox, he's taken his colourful visual style and maximal grooves everywhere from disco nights to techno fetish clubs to his own photography and styling business, Style Me Quirky.

The pair will be supported by upcoming local Jan Mikulin, who has warmed up for everyone from Tong to von Stroke, and you can expect deep, warm, groovy and human sounds - all shown to amazing effect on Cargo's incredible soundsystem. More info at catzmuzik.com
